The Sharky Difference
One of the most time-consuming, unseen aspects of our rental company is what we do in between rentals. To give you an idea of the time it takes to prep a rental (excluding drying time) here are some recent clocked times: High chair: 17 minutes (each!). Crib: 12 minutes, Stroller: 9 minutes, Pack N Play: with set-up this one is the record-holder at 23 minutes because the ONLY way to wash a pack n play is with a 3-step power wash process. So after little Johnny (name has been changed to protect the guilty) has used the entire top rail for his teething needs, you want your rental company to purge, vaporize, incinerate any evidence of a previous 'tenant'. Scratch what I said about pack n plays. The EXERSAUCER is the new heavyweight. Not the childrens' fault, this is a design issue - there are more nooks and crannies than I care to think about. Although, parents, a pack n play, exersaucer, jumperoo, crib are not for feeding. We have high chairs for that.
STEP 1 Wash with fresh, filtered water
So to kick this off, rentals are washed or wiped down with fresh, filtered water. Just try drinking a glass of our local water and see what a year's worth of limestone with a hint of sulphur tastes like. Yummy. We went to the RV and marine industry to find the best filter. I met an Entegra owner who was using a Camco filter. Not a compelling statistical sampling but he had spent north of $1 million on the RV and knew his stuff. Research completed; we have used these filters ever since.
STEP 2 Disinfect, sanitize, sterilize, cleanse, etc
For our mattresses we use a light spray of 99% Isopropyl alcohol, kills beasties, bacteria and evaporates almost instantly leaving nothing behind. For the rest, we use Lysol's hospital-grade disinfectant and cleaner. This stuff is expensive $32/gal, but if it's good enough for the Mayo Clinic....
